Earthquakes Continue In Yellowstone

UPDATE: Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, has linked this post....details below.

The University of Utah seismograph stations continue to record small earthquakes in Yellowstone. The frequency of those quakes is increasing from those of a few days ago.

Their Special Map of Yellowstone earthquakes shows a concentration at the North end of Yellowstone Lake.

Recent quake frequency:

Dec 29 1
Dec 30 0
Dec 31 5
Jan 1 18
Jan 2 10

There were 3 quakes each on Thursday and Friday topping 3 on the Richter Scale.

James Pethokoukis at U. S. News & World Report has a report issued by The Yellowstone Volcano Observatory yesterday.

Slashdot also has a number of links to those following this strange phenomenon.

Of course, while we must be alert to such activity at Yellowstone, the truth is we have not a clue as to when or if the caldera will again produce a quake of substance, or more dangerously an eruption.

Yellowstone.net has more background on quakes in the area.
