Speaking of Fred Thompson...
From his speech to a Gala GOP fundraiser in Richmond, Virginia:"We are a nation of compassion, a nation of immigrants," he said. "But this is our home . . . and we get to decide who comes into our home."
He received a number of ovations....but a standing ovation, the loudest-longest of the speech when he said the magic words about immigration.
Seems to me it is more and more clear that Bush has committed another "Harriet Meirs" with his immigration package.....er, actually his and the Democrats led by Senator "pass me a drink" Kennedy.
The GOP base is making it clear their message is "Homey don't play that!"...in a more conservative vernacular.
