Enterprise to Earth....Ready for Landing!!!!

The USS Enterprise (our 8th such named vessel), our 1st nuclear aircraft carrier, is going out on its last cruise.......50 years after its launch.......The longest-served vessel in the fleet of this country! This brings to mind several things......

I well-remember the pride I felt 50 years ago.....I was just out of high school....when we launched Enterprise. The 1st; and for years the only; nuclear vessel.

Now it is time for the lady to be pulled off the line....Her work done, her efforts never to be forgotten....through several wars; several conflicts.....she served well, and now she heads home for the last time.

I remember the same pride when the final flight of the Blackbird occurred. The plane the "flashed" from coast to coast in such a short time it was amazing.....

Why do they retire these icons? Because they have better; faster; more technologically equiped ships/vessels/planes. WE may not know of them yet, but if you think the F-35 is the only bird in our arsenal, or our planning you are wrong....

There is a lot of "space" out there USA.........
